Sometimes, a fictional moment can spark real introspection. That’s exactly what happened to Khushbu Rajendra while filming the emotionally intense wedding track for COLORS’ Ram Bhavan. Decked in a resplendent bridal lehenga, Khushbu found herself reflecting not just on her character Isha’s journey but on the larger questions surrounding marriage, choice, and the weight of tradition that so many women carry on their wedding day.
Sharing her thoughts, Khushbu says, “Wearing that bridal lehenga wasn’t just about looking like a bride—it made me feel like one. And that feeling was a lot more complicated than I expected. There’s a sense of joy, sure, but beneath it, there’s also uncertainty, a quiet nervousness, and a kind of surrender that feels overwhelming. As I stood there in front of the camera, all dressed up, it hit me—this is what so many women feel on their wedding day. It’s not just about the grandeur or the rituals; it’s about standing at the edge of something life-changing and taking that leap.”
She adds, “In India, a wedding often comes with a lot of expectations—from family, from society, and sometimes even from ourselves. This scene made me rethink a few things I thought I knew about marriage. I really hope more women get to make this choice for themselves. Whether it’s about who they marry, when they marry, or even if they marry at all—I hope they have the freedom to decide without being weighed down by expectations. Because when that choice is truly yours, it changes the entire experience.”
In the current storyline, just as Om and Mili’s wedding rituals begin, Mili runs away with Sunny, leaving Om and his family in shock. As tensions rise and emotions run high, Gayatri seizes the moment to turn things in her favour. With Om left humiliated, will he fight back, or is this just the beginning of a much bigger storm in Ram Bhavan?
