Samiksha Jaiswal talks about the challenge of playing an antagonist on COLORS’ ‘Ram Bhavan’

Samiksha Jaiswal, known for her bubbly and positive roles, shakes up her image with COLORS’ drama, ‘Ram Bhavan’ marking her first time as an antagonist. Trading her established signature charm for cold calculation in the family drama, Samiksha essays the fierce persona of Gayatri, a General Manager at a reputed restaurant and the tyrant of Ram Bhavan, the ancestral bungalow of her in-laws – the Vajpayees. The eldest bahu of the household, Gayatri is utterly materialistic emotions and dominates the members of the family with her monetary might, but her devar Om (Mishkat Varma) retaliates against her arrogance with his jugaadu antics. Samiksha shares that the shift from portraying lovable protagonists to a formidable antagonist, made saying yes to the role of Gayatri, a no-brainer for her.

Samiksha Jaiswal, playing the role of Gayatri in COLORS’ ‘Ram Bhavan’ shares, “I’m making the most of breaking away from the good girl mold and playing the materialistic monarch of Ram Bhavan. This is my first negative role, and I won’t lie—I was both nervous and exhilarated when I took it on. When I was to sink into the skin of this unapologetic and ambitious woman, I felt responsible to draw out resentment in the audiences’ hearts as an actor. This role has challenged me in ways I never imagined, pushing me to explore deeper, darker shades of a kind of character that I’ve never tapped into before. A lot of thought and effort has gone into giving her a signature dialogue delivery and body language. If viewers hate Gayatri that would mean I’ve done justice to the role. I’m grateful to the viewers showering my comeback to COLORS with so much love and I hope my character becomes the villain people love to hate.”

In the current storyline, Isha is shattered to learn that her father has recklessly taken a 200-crore loan that could ruin their family, while only she and Gurnam know the even graver secret of his recent heart attack. Meanwhile, Om, after being fired, accepts a challenge to secure a world-class job and a stunning wife within a month, as Gayatri taunts him with the prospect of begging for help.

Stay tuned to ‘Ram Bhavan’ airing every night at 8:30 pm only on COLORS.
